We are often very full and at limited capacity, so it&#8217;s important to ensure our mentors are matched with mentees ready to go through the graduate application process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;re unsure if you&#8217;re eligible or just have questions about graduate school, you can <a href=\"https:\/\/mugss.colostate.edu\/?page_id=126\">contact<\/a> one of the co-directors or email mugss.colostate@gmail.com! Check out our <a href=\"https:\/\/mugss.colostate.edu\/?page_id=146\">resources<\/a> too to see if you can answer any of your questions there!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\"><strong>Process for Becoming a Mentee<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete the Mentee application <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MUGSS Directors\/E-Board members will email you and set up a 15-20 minute interview to explain what MUGSS is, ask you a variety of questions, and to make sure what you&#8217;re is looking for can be provided by MUGSS<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Directors will match the student with a mentor based on the needs and goals of the student<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once the director has found a match, they will email the mentee with the mentor CC\u2019d and e-introduce them. This email instructs the mentee to fill out the MUGSS competency sheet and to contact the mentor to set up their first meeting<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After this email is sent, <em>i<strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">t is up to the mentee to contact the mentor<\/mark><\/strong><\/em> and stay in touch<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mentorship Relationship<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A mentor is defined a an individual with knowledge and experience who is committed to providing support to another&#8217;s career or educational development. Mentors can provide professional development, serve as role models, offer positive and negative feedback, and serve as a source of support. Mentoring is an active process and requires participation of the mentee. In the event that either the mentor or mentee is unable to fulfill their agreed upon responsibilities, the MUGSS directors may be contacted for assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong> Mentee Expectations&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Establish a mentoring agreement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain communication with mentor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take initiative and ask for what you need<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be open about your goals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respect the time of your mentor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discuss the expectations you have for your mentor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide information on acceptances to graduate schools at the end of your mentoring experience<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What can MUGSS do for you as a mentee?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Review and edit personal statements and C.V. \/ resume<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assist in the graduate school and advisor search&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perform mock interviews&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Help you stay on top of deadlines and applications<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Point you in different directions<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide resources about grad school, GRE, gaining other experience etc<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And more!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are interested in MUGSS, we invite all experienced students to apply!<br>\nExperienced students include those who have any of the below qualifications:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Third year status in credits or greater&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Actively beginning the graduate school application process&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No more than 4 semesters away from graduating<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSU psychology student with a valid colostate email address<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Apply:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/hk4jhuZxsyY7ot6t7\">https:\/\/forms.gle\/hk4jhuZxsyY7ot6t7<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Please check out our FAQ page to see if we can answer your questions!
